We will be a responsible corporate citizen within the Neptune™ business and nonprofit community and will prioritize community reinvestment, responsibility, and cooperation. Our founders have been government regulators themselves as well as a firefighter in Neptune Township. We envision a close and collaborative working relationship with the New Jersey and Neptune administrations and regulators.

Community Reinvestment

A Hystory Of Giving Back

At o Neptune Healing Center™, giving back is deeply embedded in our DNA. Our founders have a long history of volunteerism and community involvement. Kimble Cannon was a volunteer firefighter and beach lifeguard in Monmouth County for many years. Others have dedicated their time to volunteering at homeless shelters, various faith-based charities and served as Big Brothers and Big Sisters. We will bring this same dedication to volunteerism to the Neptune community.

Building Community Partnerships

We are keenly aware of the responsibility successful businesses owe to our communities. We live in a world of increased uncertainty and strained resources. Companies that benefit from the community must give back to it. We understand the usual sources of charitable donations may be unable to match their historical levels and we are here to help.

Community Development Officer

Neptune Healing Center™ employs a full-time Community Development Officer who spearheads our local community outreach, organizes volunteer opportunities, and serves as a first point of contact with the community.

Community Advisory Board

Community partnership means giving the community insight and input into how we run our business. We know some members of the community are unaware of the broad benefits of cannabis. Giving all of our stakeholders – including neighbors, residents, vendors and customers – a voice in how we operate is essential to maintaining openness and collaboration.

Volunteer Partnerships

We are committed to a culture of volunteerism. Our store team is deeply involved in supporting and helping local community organizations. Our “Heal Neptune” program hosts quarterly volunteer days to support local non-profit organizations while building team morale.

We believe every member of our Neptune team should be connected to the community and have the opportunity to give back. A culture of volunteerism is essential to us. We understand that for some members of our team, taking time off from work and family to do good is a luxury they can’t afford. Therefore, we give all our Neptune employees the opportunity to do good while still getting paid.

  • Each employee receives 50 hours of company-paid time each year to volunteer with a non-profit partner of their choice in Neptune.

  • This is estimated to result in over 800 additional hours of volunteer support for Neptune non-profits per year.

Employer-Paid Volunteerism

Buy Local Initiative

Local businesses are essential. They bring growth and innovation to our communities and neighborhoods. They provide employment, create opportunities for local people to start and run businesses, and generally support the local economy. Local businesses care about their community. They know customers by name. Local business owners are our neighbors and friends. Local businesses are what make Neptune and Monmouth County special and unique.

Our “buy local” initiative benefits Neptune Township and Monmouth County by promoting:

Local Jobs and Wages

Locally owned businesses create more jobs locally and, in the cannabis industry, tend to provide better wages and benefits than do chains.

Product Diversity

A multitude of small businesses, each selecting products based on the interests and needs of their local customers rather than on a national sales plan.

Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship fuels economic innovation and prosperity, and serves as a key means for families to move out of low-wage jobs and into the middle class.

Keeping Dollars in the Local Economy

Compared to chain stores, locally owned businesses recycle a much larger share of their revenue back into the local economy, enriching the whole community.

A Clean Environment

Every choice we make, about who we work with, what products we offer, and what we stand for, affects the bigger picture: the health of the planet.

Local Tax Revenue

Keeping dollars local will help grow Neptune economy. This will drive local tax revenue. A larger Neptune tax base will then fund more vital local services.

“Local Selects” Retail Section

We dedicate part of our store to selling only cannabis products made in Monmouth County and Neptune Township. We put local products in a dedicated space with high customer traffic so it sells well. The location of a product in a store makes a difference in its sales. To support our local partners and promote their success, we dedicate a premier section of our retail sales area that will be marked visibly as “Local Selects”. Local Selects is reserved for products made and supplied by our partners in Monmouth County and Neptune Township. A dedicated space ensures those products get maximum shopper visibility. Local Selects promotes community well-being by linking shoppers and locally owned businesses in a web of economic and social relationships.

Local Hiring

We are committed to 100% local hiring. We know this is an exacting goal but we are dedicated to it. Hiring local is good business. It means our employees reflect and understands our local customer base. It also means our employees are natural representatives of and ambassadors to Neptune community. We view hiring locally as a part of our community plan. The community benefits when we create well-paying jobs with good benefits in the community. We benefit when our team reflects the community and is a part of it. We have a specific hire local plan. We recruit residents of Neptune Township and Monmouth County through local staffing agencies including Express Employment Professionals, and host local job fairs to allow local job-seekers to learn more about us and our mission. We reach out to local schools like Monmouth University and Brookdale Community College, to make certain we provide meaningful career opportunities to local students and recent graduates. Hiring locally keeps our dollars local, which benefits Neptune and the local community through increased local dollars available to pay for goods and services of all kinds.

Employee Compensation & Benefits

Our goal is not only to create local jobs but to create local jobs that pay well and have great benefits. We want more of these kinds of jobs to be available within Neptune. We are dedicated to providing all employees with a “Living Wage”. To achieve this, we pledge to pay at least $2.00 above any applicable minimum wage as a base wage for hourly employees. Employees receive a generous benefits package that includes health insurance, dental coverage, educational assistance opportunities, and the option to participate in a retirement 401K plan.

Career Advancement

Simply put, a reason we dedicate resources to employee education is that we intend to promote from within. We expect our future store management to come from our entry-level hires of today. We have a monthly budget for ongoing employee education and offer in-store educational sessions in the mornings before the store opens. We benefit from the fact that one of our founders is a law school professor who has taught cannabis law and regulation and that several others hold advanced degrees in business and government policy relevant to the cannabis business, as well as vast industry experience that is honestly unmatched in the cannabis industry today. Our New Jersey employees benefit from mentoring opportunities with these founders.

Youth Education Initiatives

We dedicate resources to help existing organizations in Neptune educate youth about the risks, effects and legal requirements of cannabis use. We believe it is our responsibility to see that adult-use cannabis means use only by adults unless a genuine, documented medical need exists. We understand youth education is essential to maintaining the safety and wellbeing of our communities, families and children. To be clear we don’t be reaching out to youths directly in any way. We instead identify parties in Neptune community have existing outreach programs to youth and provide them with the funding and resources they need to conduct youth education and prevention programs. This is the highest priority for our dedicated Community Development Officer.

Senior Health Programs

We support seniors in Neptune community through our in-store education programs. Seniors directly benefit from the potential health effects of cannabis. We offer in-store classes to seniors in which our medical experts and advisors discuss the range of cannabis products, “cannabis basics” including the differences between THC and CBD, cannabis and pain management, cannabis and sleep, cannabis and stress, dosing considerations, and product familiarization. These classes also cover the social stigmas associated with cannabis. These classes are conducted in a neutral manner and are not structured as a sales opportunity.
